Living in Between - Lyrics
The Garden (Part I)
Words and Music by Trevor Garrod
Hound dog was a great companion
Watched over my home
Kept the deer outside my garden
Earned himself a bond
Bones them bones
You better put 'em in the garden
Out there by the rose bush
In the corner to the north
Bones them bones
Let the green grass grow around them
And don't you tell a soul
Until you're very old.
Watched over my home
Kept the deer outside my garden
Earned himself a bond
Bones them bones
You better put 'em in the garden
Out there by the rose bush
In the corner to the north
Bones them bones
Let the green grass grow around them
And don't you tell a soul
Until you're very old.
Bootlegger
Words and Music by Trevor Garrod
Bootlegger music faker
Your kingdom's coming like a rattle shaker
Teach me how to get the gal
To call the moon and sing out loud
Yes I'm going
Smelling fine and glowing
And this rainbow that i'm towing
Sure looks good to me
Bootlegger little maker
You're a carpet bagging mouse trap baiter
Take me to the city center
Set me up and find me shelter
Yes I guess
I've gotten in a mess
You help me do my best
To leave this kingdom in the west
You're the only one
You're the king of kingdom come
My fingers feel numb
While my tongue has gone dumb
So distill a little more
I'll drink as much as you can pour
You help the people roar
You set my spirit out to soar
Bootlegger window breaker
Sidewalk stepping midnight waker
Blast the body's bible burden
Crack the core and part the curtain
Yes I'm dry
But there's water in my eyes
I'm trying and she tries
To make it through the night.
Your kingdom's coming like a rattle shaker
Teach me how to get the gal
To call the moon and sing out loud
Yes I'm going
Smelling fine and glowing
And this rainbow that i'm towing
Sure looks good to me
Bootlegger little maker

Las Vegas
Words and Music by Trevor Garrod
Towers rising in the desert
Stretched between these mountain ranges
Dangerously paved by highways
Populated by the strangest
People and play things
And dreamless sleeping flower petaled people
Reaching strange directions
But almost keeping with the children
That they'd been teaching
Now that's the joy of man's desiring
I am alive
I am alive
I thought that I was gonna die
Now there ain't nothing left
Midnight won and she took the rest
I rode the night train
I sniffed the wood grain
I turned my paycheck into the chieftain
Now it's a dumb thing to be doing
But it was lasting all night
And we felt just like the gods did
When we saw the sun come out
And that's the joy of man's desiring
I am alive
I am alive
I thought that I would die
Before I got to Vegas
These ancient rocks are filled with
Dreams these buildings are just space craft
Do the skies sometimes rain down
In pennies is your universe a treasure
Stretched between these mountain ranges
Dangerously paved by highways
Populated by the strangest
People and play things
And dreamless sleeping flower petaled people
Reaching strange directions
But almost keeping with the children
That they'd been teaching
Now that's the joy of man's desiring
I am alive
I am alive

Now there ain't nothing left

Earth and Sky
Words and Music by Trevor Garrod
I don't plant crops and
I don't build fences
I don't ride on railroads
And I don't dig trenches
I'm living in between
The earth and sky
I don't go to school
I don't go to churches
I don't visit graveyards
I don't know the purpose of 'em
I'm living in between
The earth and sky
Following phone lines
To good times and bad times
Under the starlight
Under the moon
Shining down on me
Shining down on me
I'd write letters
But i'd never send 'em
The post script on 'em
Is never ending
I'm living in between
The earth and sky
I'm living in between
The earth and sky
I don't build fences
I don't ride on railroads
And I don't dig trenches
I'm living in between
The earth and sky
I don't go to school
I don't go to churches
I don't visit graveyards
I don't know the purpose of 'em
I'm living in between
The earth and sky
Following phone lines
To good times and bad times
Under the starlight
Under the moon
Shining down on me
Shining down on me
I'd write letters
But i'd never send 'em
The post script on 'em
Is never ending
I'm living in between
The earth and sky
I'm living in between
The earth and sky
Freedom
Words by Josh Clark and Scott Rager, Music by Tea Leaf Green
Freedom don't come easy to me
Freedom don't come easy to me
Your sugar tastes so sweet 'cause it's free
Your sugar tastes so sweet cause it's free
Don't want to sell it no one will buy it
Your freedom don't come easy
Baby don't you patronize me
I'm so easy to please
Freedom don't come easy to me
Your sugar tastes so sweet 'cause it's free
Your sugar tastes so sweet cause it's free
Don't want to sell it no one will buy it
Your freedom don't come easy
Baby don't you patronize me
I'm so easy to please
Kali-Yuga
Words by Trevor Garrod, Music by Tea Leaf Green
How far will we go on monday
I asked 'cause our speed had increased
That germ of transcendence is always
Within us at least
I know we've got to keep on going
A fast car won't ever rust
And these hands of invisible organic forces
Are pushing and pulling us
Its a long way, through kali-yuga
Age of iron, cooled in the ocean
And the mountains, are for exploring
Devils have danced on my door step
While angels have sung in my yard
And wise men are hiding in mountains
While most of us are working too hard
Speed is our last great invention
We race and we roll to arrive
By mineral mountain magnet and meteor
Its hard enough to just get by
Its a long way through kali-yuga
Age of iron, cooled in the ocean
And the mountains, are for exploring
I asked 'cause our speed had increased
That germ of transcendence is always
Within us at least
I know we've got to keep on going
A fast car won't ever rust
And these hands of invisible organic forces

Vote on Tuesday
Words by Trevor Garrod, Music by Tea Leaf Green
I don't want to vote on Tuesday
(Vote on Tuesday Vote on Tuesday)
I don't want to vote on Tuesday
For the county judge
'Cause I never read the pamphlet
(Read the pamphlet Read the pamphlet)
Cause I never read the pamphlet
I don't know what he's going to do to me
If I'm busted if I'm free
What's he going to do to me
When the day is done
I aint done no gun slinging
(Gun slinging Gun slinging)
I aint done no gun slinging
I aint hurt anyone
I'm trying to make a simple living
From my hand to mouth
I'm eating month to month
I'm always giving in
I'm giving out
I'm looking 'cross the farmer's valley
Seeing the future tract home
Housing or them prisons
Grimly standing if you done wrong
They got a place for everyone
When they put you before they're done
They got a place for everyone
When they'll lay you down
So make sure that you're documented
Licensed and been registrated
all your papers are collated
and your dues are paid
I'm down in a hole
and I don't know where to go
Where to go
I don't want to throw a brick
Through their window pane
I don't want to light the torch
That sets the town aflame
But I know how to hide in canyons
(Hide in canyons Hide in canyons)
I know how to hide in canyons
Underneath the shrub and
I know how to shoot a rifle
I know how to shoot a rifle
I know how to draw blood

Beehive
Words and Music by Trevor Garrod
There's a beehive in the old oak tree
Keeping each other company
And sweet things are said
From the bees to the tree
He whispers to them back
With the rustle of his leaves
Hi ho yes hi ho and its alright
If you want to climb that tree
Well you might get stung
If you need to do some climbing
Find a different one
The honey is protected
It can't even be inspected
By the bosom of the bark
As hard as any bark can be
There's a beehive in the old oak tree
And they don't need a thing from you or me
But some times I go and see 'em
'Cause i know where they are hidden
And I think that they are living so beautifully
I know and it's all right
Keeping each other company
And sweet things are said
From the bees to the tree
He whispers to them back
With the rustle of his leaves
Hi ho yes hi ho and its alright
If you want to climb that tree
Well you might get stung
If you need to do some climbing
Find a different one
The honey is protected
It can't even be inspected
